I’m writing this short blog to share some fascinating and very disturbing test results I just received.
I really do practice what I preach. This means I eat a very clean diet, use 90% organic and natural beauty and cleaning products, as well practice good self-care to manage stress.
But with a past history of chronic GI issues, I too get occasionally challenged with recurring symptoms that remind me I need to examine what might be causing these flare-ups.
So every year I test instead of guess, to get a bottom line interpretation of what’s happening inside my body. My recent test results surprised me. A LOT!
Mystery number one.
My GI MAP showed I’m having a reaction to gliadin (the protein in wheat), although I’ve been 100% gluten free for over 10 years. It also showed I had a lot of inflammation as well as a suppressed immune system. To investigate further I did a food sensitivity test to see what other foods might be contributing to these findings. This is what I found. . .
Mystery number two.
The results of my ELISA/LRA food and chemical sensitivity test presented even more disturbing results. Out of almost 400 items tested, the good news is I only had 16 total immune reactors. This means that I might be currently ingesting these items OR if I do ingest them, I will have a strong immune reaction to them.
7 of the 16 are CHEMICALS!
Toluene
Sodium Benzoate
Nitrosamine Mix
D & C Red # 28
BHT
FD&C Blue #2
Isopropyl Ether
I share this because as someone who is passionate about living as cleanly as possible without making myself nuts (hence the 90%), how is it possible to have immune reactions to these chemicals when only 10% of my life leaves room for them to sneak in?
And so . . . the investigative work begins.
Currently I’m trying to figure out WHERE they’re coming from. Could I be inhaling it, or are they in my hair products or laundry detergent? After some investigation, my one non-organic shampoo is now in the trash! Next on my list to explore is the hair dye and nail polish I use. Could the gluten also be from these culprits?
This blog is food for thought for you and those who you love to think twice about what products you are using on your body and in your home. Not everyone absorbs or gets rid of these toxins the same way since we are all so different, but it’s important to be aware so you can make the best choice for you and your loved ones.
It takes a village to help people find out
how and where to get well.
